Jackie has been walking around wearing a very old (though obviously comfy) pair of ankle boots which are riddled with holes. Some time ago (at christmas) she was given a token, redeemable in the shop of her choice (yes, even Meadowhell) for a pair of nice new boots without holes in, but could we find a suitable pair of non-pointy black leather ankle boots with flat souls and some sort of grip, could we buggery. Then we found ourselves eating crepes in l'oeuf in Montpellier and saw a shoe shop called Andre. It not only had several types of sensible shoes which fit the bill, but also had the right size and a nice non-pressurising system of leaving the various shoe boxes on a shelf underneath the display. None of this sitting around waiting while an annoying spotty shoe person goes in and out of the back room six times to get the size you need (or more likely smoke fags and drink tea) like you get in British shoe shops. Extremely reasonable price and a veritable sea of other nice shoe shops just round the corner left Jackie gagging for more.
