If you get the chance and you like that kind of thing, go see the re-edit of Ridley Tiddly Scott's Blade Runner as soon as possible. It was on at the Cornerhouse for just three nights back in December and I was so glad that I decided to make the effort to see it.

The all-digital print looks totally stunning, clearly they have put serious effort into the restoration work and the projection technology looks like it's up to the mark. Once the rather buzzy and packed house settled down (people wandering in looking for seats 3 mins into the film, I ask you!) I sat back and got nicely immersed.
The re-edit is in some ways quite subtle - at least if you are familiar with the Directors Cut version. Little tweaks here and there with respect to pace, tidyness of continuity and a few other oddments ("I want more life, father" is back) seem to add up to something that just sticks together properly. Detail is important in the film and watching it now was like a blurry slide has popped into sharp focus.
A few months back I read the book - and was really struck by the difference in the atmosphere between the two. In my minds eye the world was much brighter, emptier, lonlier. I would love to do a re-make of my own envisioning one day and bring back the sheep. I can dream.
