The Lord of the Rings Online - Shadows of Angmar advert currently on the front of Amazon features a few shots which couldn't be anywhere other than Park Hill in Sheffield.
For anyone who doesn't know, Park Hill is a monstrous concrete housing estate in the centre of Sheffield comprising just under a thousand flats. I lived there from 2001 to 2004 (joined by Jackie later on) - when we left the flats were being cleared to pave the way for major redevelopment.
We swung by the estate last Saturday evening after visiting our friends Rob and Rosie for their housewarming BBQ. It really is looking very sad right now - just about every window is boarded up, the lift shafts sealed off. Weeds grow high in the car park at the centre of the complex and the school has been razed to the ground.
