Eyes bigger than wallet

Today we had intended to go for a swim. However having left the house rather late we stopped on the way at Pezenas to go round the shops and have a bite to eat. Contrary to bank-holiday expectations, Pezenas was in rather marvellous flow with all the little artisan shops open and selling their wares of toys, teddies, tableware and all manner of nicknacks. This of course gave us a few very tempting moments of thinking that it be good to come back down here and fill a car full of stuff to decorate/furnish/generally have good things for our home. Where you going on holiday fat wallet? Perhaps in a few years time!

We also saw a rather interesting purveyor of board games - involving building railway empires round europe or solving murder mysteries round a 16th century abbey. The chap in the shop was very enthusiastic as one would expect of someone who runs a gaming shop and was attentive to our needs in terms of whether we speak French or not and then what proportion of the target gameplayers speak French and will be able to understand lots of little instructions printed on the game cards and board. We didn't spring, but god were we tempted.

We extracted ourselves in the general direction of some restauration rapide (chips and salad) which wasn't really up to much and jumped back in the car to head down south to the Med. At which point the forces of nature decided that the hitherto perfect, sunny, wind-free day was to become rather overcast and dull, so we just drove around a bit finding nothing but closed bridges and one-way-systems round housing estates.
