There is nothing like a rejection to inspire me to pull my finger out! The third edition of the Titbits is now available for download in PDF format.
By way of explanation, the Titbits was mostly written by myself and holidaytime next-door-neighbour Ben Warner (if you are out there Ben, do get in touch!) and documented scurrilous rumours about the other boule-playing, garlic-guzzling residents, a fabricated football team and our various adventures or lack thereof while staying in the village.
The other key characters include:
Bruno, then employed by the Mairie as part time fonctionairre and community organiser while holding down his dead-end day job in the local branch of Hyper-U. Laura Douglas, fellow jeunesse Britannique living permanently in the village. Sweater, one of the best boule players in the village who was famous for his prowess as a tierer (knocking the opponents boule out) and of-course his particularly manky sweater. Magnet, so named because he used a magnet on a string to pick up his boule, is Sweater's counterpart and team-mate.
The whole thing could not be complete without a load of made-up scandal about Madame Chauvet the village millionaire, table-grape mogul and long-time old spinster (until she suddenly got married at the age of about 80). She continues to tottle around the village proudly wearing a pair of gold lamé shoes.
