Fixing my ears

Long time readers may remember a couple of years ago we wrote a bit of a rant about the NHS and it's referral system being a big load of bobbins. Guess what, I've got a referral myself on the new and glorious Electronic Booking system. I am however a little sceptical as this electronic system seems to mainly involve that most electronic of media, paper in the post from the GP to the referral centre. I'm supposed to phone the call centre in a couple of days and they will hopefully then give me an appointment on the spot. This would certainly take a few loops out of the process we described before. We will be watching and waiting to see what happens next...

Jackie and I have been saying that between us we know nearly enough about the system that if we just sat down with a few large pieces of paper we could come up with a complete and workable solution for the whole thing particularly with a view to improving the usability of it. With a little work Doctors shouldn't find themselves spending more time staring blankly at thier computer screens in utter confusion rather than actually listening to their patients or managing to sucessfully record the treatment given (Raaahh).

Meanwhile I'm recuperating from this effing ear infection which is still making me feel like I've been kicked in the head after two weeks. The recurrent problems have really been quite a millstone for the last few months and if put into the context of cysts and syringing over the last two years I think it's really high time I got to see a specialist.
